LTK awarded Green Medalist Certificate in the Hang Seng Pearl River Delta Environmental Awards

LTK was awarded the Green Medalist Certificate in the Hang Seng Pearl River Delta Environmental Awards under the 1-1-1 (One Factory - One Year - One Environmental Project) programme on June 24, 2008. The programme was jointly organized by Hang Seng Bank and Federation of Hong Kong Industries with an aim to encourage industry to participate in cleaner production and to foster a green culture. The Green Medalist Certificate signifies our commitment and continuous effort in green contribution to the society. This year the programme received 113 entries covering a total of 330 environmental projects in eight areas, energy conservation, water management, waste discharge reduction and treatment, recycling of resources, air emissions, noise abatement, green management and others.

LTK's Involvement in "China RoHS" Development

LTK, currently a member of the "China RoHS" working committee under the Ministry of Information Industry of the PRC, was invited to give a talk at the seminar on "China RoHS" latest development, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Electrical Appliances Manufacturers Association and the Hong Kong Productivity Council on April 7, 2008. At the seminar, LTK shared her experience in the participation in developing "China RoHS" standards and guidelines with two hundred representatives from the Hong Kong electronics manufacturing sector. LTK was the world-first cable manufacturer to obtain EU-RoHS UL Green Mark.

LTK's Speech in Corporate Social Responsibility Workshop

Mr Thomas Chaung, Director of Strategy Management of LTK, gave a speech on LTK's corporate social responsibility (CSR) practice at the CSR Workshop: "Leap Ahead: Improving Your CSR Initiatives and Reporting" organized by Business Environment Council (BEC) on February 29. The full-day workshop focused at best practice in CSR measures and reporting. Pursuing sustainability has become an integral part of LTK's business strategy. At the speech, Mr Chaung shared LTK's CSR initiatives. The scope covered: protecting the environment, employee management, health & safety, supporting the community and, management quality & effectiveness. Other speakers at the workshop included representatives from Standard Chartered Bank, Coca Cola Pacific Group, CLP Holdings and MTR Corporations. Ms Gaby Oetterli presented souvenir at the end of the workshop.

LTK staff shared Lunar New Year blessings with the needy

LTK staff participated in the Salvation Army 'Lai See Day' program, shared their Chinese New Year blessings with the needy by contributing their red packet money. This fundraising event aims to support and facilitate the Army's service for children and young people, which includes after-school classes for the children from low-income families. The service enables the children to keep up with their schoolwork and provides extracurricular activities so that the children could broaden their social network and actively participate in the society. It does not only help the youth to solve their urgent needs, but also encourages them to face the difficulties.

LTK Named “Caring Company” for Sixth Year Running

The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) has named LTK one of Hong Kong's "Caring Companies" for Sixth Year Running. The award acknowledges LTK's efforts in corporate social responsibility, which the company has demonstrated through its active participation in a wide range of community initiatives. Companies have satisfied any 3 out of the 6 Caring Company criteria will be awarded with a special Logo, in recognition of their sustainable commitment in good corporate citizenship with an extra effort. This year, LTK was recognized for its commitment to developing long-term partnerships with community organizations, encouraging its employees to engage in various volunteer initiatives, particularly in support of the underprivileged and caring for the environment.

LTK Received Emerald Award from HSBC Living Business 2007

LTK received Emerald Award from the HSBC Living Business 2007 scheme, which recognized LTK's outstanding contribution to the environment and community to sustain long-term business success. "The honor has a positive effect in recognition of our employees' active participation in practicing Corporate Social Responsibility", said Mr Simon Cua, the Managing Director of LTK International Ltd. The scheme was organized by the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), supported by the Business Environmental Council (BEC) and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service(HKCSS). The award presentation ceremony was held on the 23rd of July, 2007.

LTK Shared Green Manufacturing Experience at Youth Conference of CEI

LTK participated in the Youth Conference of Caretakers of Environmental International (CEI) 2007. Different countries take turns to host the conference every year, with the previous conferences held in Sweden, Italy, Kenya, Greece, USA and Poland. This year the conference was held in Hong Kong in July 2007, with more than 300 attendants from over 30 countries. At the conference, Mr Thomas Chaung, Director of Sales & Marketing of LTK International Ltd gave a lecture to share experience in Green manufacturing and social responsibility practice.

LTK Supported Young Leadership Development Program

LTK participated in a young leadership development program organized by the Global Institute for Tomorrow, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing understanding of the challenges of globalization in Asia. Twenty young executives from six countries came to visit LTK's manufacturing plant in Huizhou in China on 15th of June 2007 to learn from experiences of this environmental protection and CSR practitioner.

LTK Demonstrated Steps To Green Product Excellence

LTK sponsored Business Environment Council's Eco-Products Award 2007 to promote sustainable production and consumption, one of the hot topics of 21st Century Agenda globally. LTK showcased its ex-award-winning cable products at the launch ceremony on 29th of May 2007. The LTK products demonstrate steps to green product excellence which include eco-efficient design, green materials and suppliers selection, green manufacturing, eco-packaging as well as extended producer responsibility.

Seminar in Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair

The Seminar: Trend of Green Materials and Green Management System for Toys Industry, co-organised by HKTDC and FHKI, was held at the first day of the Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair 2007.

Mr. Thomas Chaung, Director of Sales and Marketing of LTK, shared with the audience the latest information about EU Directive 2005/84/EC and other regulations that affect the toys industry. He also introduced LTK green cable development and green manufacturing strategy.
